The McDaniels

I took a trip to Rogersville a few weeks ago for a 'lil family session with some friends from high school...Jacob and his wife Brooke, and their son, Kane.

Here are some of my faves!

Don't you just love their sweet family??

And Kane is just precious...

It's always a challenge to make it through a session lasting more than about 30 minutes with children under 1 year, but it certainly makes it fun/interesting to improvise with ideas about how to entertain the little ones. Kane was kind of over our session about halfway through, but Mom and Dad did a FAB job of turning his little frown upside down....the images turned out just great! Way to be a trooper, little man!

Some Mommy & Daddy lovin'--

One of Kane's favorite things...being tossed into the air by Dad. LOVE that grin!

Don't you just love little baby tootsies? I do.

Boswell Family

I got a call from Susan a few weeks ago to do a little family session at her home in Kingsport. Susan has one adorable son, Nyckolas, and is expecting (VERY soon) her second child-- little miss Brooklyn. All the elements for a great session were there--a spunky, free-spirited little guy; his graceful, affectionate mother; and a baby belly to top it off!

LOVE. this. shot

fave shot of the day:

AND, I am WAY excited to be doing Brooklyn's newborn sesh, coming up SOON!!

precious, he wanted to hear Brooklyn in his momma's belly.

Sneak Peek!

Ok, well. I have been SOOOOO busy lately! I have been shooting, editing, and running around like crazy!!!

And, as many of you probably know by now, Jared and I are currently enjoying a MUCH needed {and much deserved!} vacation--in IRELAND! We are loving it!!! (And don't worry, I am taking loads of pictures!)

I am going to be doing a little work here and there while I am away, when I can... but I won't, obviously, be working all day every day like usual. Sooooo, I wanted to give everyone who has had a session recently a little taste of what to expect when I get back!

I'll start with the Zook/Mills Wedding. Amanda and Shaun were one of my first clients, back in October when I did their engagement session. They are not only gorgeous subjects, but also have great chemistry and are so adorably in love, it is really a joy and a privilege to photograph them together. Their wedding was the first that I have ever done of my engagement clients, and it is so neat to be there for the "whole shabang"--the engagement, wedding preparation, and finally the wedding!

Here are a few of the images from their big day--I will post a longer blog later, and expound a little more....but for now, Amanda and Shaun, here is what you have to look forward to!

Another thing that I have had the opportunity to be a part of recently is the brand spankin' new charter bus company of my friends Ashleigh and Jason, Jake Legg's Lost State Tours. Jared and I went on a tour a few weeks ago, and it was fantastic! It was SUPER fun and informative...so much history and cool info for clueless JC residents like myself. :) I was able to take a few shots on our tour:

This past weekend was also my cousin Heather's 21st birthday. She celebrated with a small little luau at my aunt and uncle's house in Knoxville. I loved getting the candid party shots, of course, but I also got to whisk the birthday girl away for a minute and get some shots of just her...

Isn't she gorgeous?

And, I also got to get some ADORABLE shots of her and her new beau, Joseph. They are just such a sweet couple. Here is my favorite of them:

And, finally, Tuesday before we left I had a session with Susan and her son Nyckolas. Susan is expecting her 2nd child soon and it was just so much fun to do a family/maternity session.

Here are a few from the day:

Also coming soon....The Gillis family beach trip 09: Navarre.

Ok, that's all for now, peeps. I'm off to enjoy the Irish countryside....see ya when I get back!!! Here is a little teaser for you, so you can get a taste of how beyoooootiful it is here:

Nick + Karrianne: The Wedding

Last Saturday was a big day for my husband's family...it was Karrianne's wedding day.

There is just something magical about weddings...all the stress, the planning, the thought that goes into it. There is meaning and intent behind every single act and event that occurs that day.

It was so sweet to be able to capture all of these feelings and moments for my very own family. As a photographer, it's hard not to detach yourself from weddings (since you do so many of them)...you are so used to just being strictly task-oriented, forgetting that there is an actual story behind the lives of the people you are working for. But this day was different--I got to see all of the hard work that I know has been put into the day for months culminate into a truly meaningful event.

It was very difficult not to cry when I watched Linda, my mother-in-law, proudly watch her youngest be given away and take her vows. It was really REALLY hard to not cry when Nannie softly wept and then wiped her tears away with a tissue she had obviously reserved for the occasion. And, yeah, it was even a little hard not to cry when Nick saw Karrianne for the first time, as she started down the isle, and wept a little himself.

Here are some of the precious images from the day.

Nick sure didn't waste any time in taking advantage of his physical husbandly rights! I got this shot right as they were being pronounced as Mr. and Mrs. McPheron.

And here are some shots of....US! Heather, my cousin and her date, Joseph, accompanied us to the wedding. We had a blast!!!

Michael + Shannon

Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to serve as a sort-of photography mentee of the wonderful Julie Roberts. Julie and I have known each other for a long time--we went to college together--and we have become close through our shared profession in the photography business. She, being the fabulous friend that she is, has taken me under her wing to help show me the ins-and-outs of the biz. A big part of my learning experience has been the times I have had the opportunity to second shoot for Julie, especially weddings. It has been a fabulous time for me, one marked by invaluable experiences.

One such experience was the Satterfield/Ubaldini wedding at Twin Cedar Farms in Maryville, TN.

I think it was one of the most fun, relaxed wedding celebrations I have ever experienced.

Here are some of my shots from the day--I know there's a lot, I would put them in a slideshow online if I could figure out how! There were just so many good ones!
